TikTok’s Updated Community Guidelines: What Affiliate Marketers Need to Know

TikTok’s Updated Community Guidelines: What Affiliate Marketers Need to Know

TikTok Bans Automation Tools for Affiliate Marketing

One of the most significant changes is TikTok’s tougher stance against automation. The platform now prohibits any use of automation tools, scripts, or “hacks” designed to manipulate engagement or bypass systems.

Violations could result in:

  • Content removal

  • Account suspensions

  • Permanent bans

For affiliates who previously scaled campaigns using scheduling bots, automated commenting, or engagement tools, this marks a seismic shift. TikTok’s AI-powered enforcement already detects over 85% of violations automatically, meaning marketers can no longer rely on loopholes to grow accounts artificially.

👉 What this means for affiliates: Marketers will need to double down on organic engagement, influencer collaborations, and high-quality content rather than automation-led growth strategies.

AI-Generated Content Comes Under Stricter Rules

TikTok’s new policies around AI content introduce a compliance challenge for affiliate marketers.

Key changes include:

  • Mandatory labeling of AI-generated content

  • Bans on AI content that could be misleading, harmful, or deceptive

  • Stricter interpretation of what counts as “harmful”

This means AI-driven product demos, testimonials, or promotional videos risk being flagged—even when properly disclosed—if TikTok deems them misleading.

👉 Affiliate takeaway: Affiliates must be transparent about AI use, but also careful in how AI-generated content is positioned. Over-reliance on AI creative could increase enforcement risks.

Regulated Goods Policy Tightens Vertical Restrictions

TikTok has also expanded its Regulated Goods and Services policy, clarifying rules around content related to:

  • Alcohol, tobacco & gambling

  • Firearms & dangerous weapons

  • Drugs and controlled substances

In addition, all promotional content must now use TikTok’s built-in disclosure tools—a requirement that may catch out affiliates running multi-platform campaigns without adapting to TikTok’s compliance system.

👉 Affiliate takeaway: Vertical-specific affiliates (e.g., alcohol or gambling brands) will need to tread carefully, ensuring clear disclosures and full compliance with TikTok’s native systems.

What This Means for Affiliate & Performance Marketing

TikTok’s updates reflect a wider industry trend: greater accountability, transparency, and authenticity in digital marketing.

For affiliate marketers, the new reality is clear:

  • Automation shortcuts are no longer viable

  • AI content requires careful compliance

  • Disclosure rules are non-negotiable

Marketers who adapt quickly by focusing on authentic creator partnerships, transparent disclosures, and compliant content strategies will be best positioned to succeed.

Adapt Now or Risk Falling Behind

TikTok remains one of the most valuable traffic sources for e-commerce and affiliate marketing. But with stricter automation bans, AI compliance rules, and regulated goods restrictions, affiliates need to rethink strategies immediately.

At RevWise, we help brands and affiliates navigate platform changes, recruit creators, and optimise campaigns to remain compliant while maximising performance.

Amazon’s Google Shopping Blackout: What It Means for DTC Brands and Affiliate Growth

The Big Move: Amazon Disappears Overnight

In a surprise move, Amazon abruptly paused all Google Shopping activity globally. For a full month, their feeds were dark — no ads, no product listings, no aggressive bidding wars.

But as of this week, 🚨 Amazon Shopping is back across Google Shopping in Europe, appearing again as a top competitor for most advertisers — though still absent in the U.S. market.

The move has sparked speculation that the blackout was a marketing measurement test, with Amazon assessing the incremental value of Google Shopping versus its own internal retail ecosystem.

Amazon Bows Out of Google Shopping – Why This Could Cause a CSS Affiliate Gold Rush Before Q4

In late July 2025, something quietly seismic happened in the world of product search. Amazon, long the heavyweight in Google Shopping auctions, simply disappeared. Between 21–23 July, its impression share fell from around 60% to zero. No warning, no public explanation, and no sign yet of when (or if) they will be back.

For most consumers, the absence will barely register. For affiliate programs using CPA Shopping publishers like RedBrain, Genie Shopping, Kelkoo, and others, this is the equivalent of prime high street retail space suddenly becoming vacant — and available for the taking.

Booking.com Drops Thousands of Affiliates: What It Means for Travel Content Creators

A Major Travel Affiliate Shake-Up Is Underway

In a move that’s caught the travel content world off guard, Booking.com has announced it will be discontinuing affiliate relationships with thousands of smaller partners from June 20, 2025. This sudden change affects a huge number of travel bloggers and content creators—just weeks before the industry’s busiest season begins.

The cutoff reportedly spares only those earning over €1,000 in monthly commission, leaving the majority of content creators without a way to monetise their existing Booking.com links.

At RevWise, we don’t just see this as a one-off event. It’s part of a much broader shift in the travel affiliate marketing landscape—and it carries important lessons for both creators and brands.
